Dr Abhishek Mitra is one of the finest and vastly experienced Gastro Intestinal (GI) and HPB (Hepato-Pancretico-Biliary) Surgeon and Cancer Surgeon in Delhi and NCR, India. Dr Mitra has an experience of more than 19 years and has performed thousands of surgeries involving diseases of gastro intestinal tract. He is one of the very few Gastrointestinal Surgeons with a certified training in the field of Gastrointestinal and HPB cancers from the premiere Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai. He is equally well acquainted in performing GI cancer surgeries laparoscopically as well as through an open approach. Dr Abhishek Mitra is currently working as Senior Consultant GI (Gastro Intestinal), HPB and Minimally Invasive Surgeon and Cancer Surgeon at Paras Hospital, Gurgaon, India.

Dr Mitra is a graduate from Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi, which ranks among the top medical colleges in India. He did post-graduation in surgery from prestigious Lady Hardinge Medical College and Hospital, New Delhi, India. After successfully completing post-graduation he went on to do DNB in Gastro-intestinal Surgery from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, India. DNB program at Sir Ganga Ram hospital is considered as the best in India due to the vast surgical experience and a successful academic program. During his stay in Sir Ganga Ram hospital, he was involved in a vast array of complicated gastrointestinal and hepato-pancreatico-biliary procedures including Liver  Transplantation. With an ambition to become an accomplished cancer and HPB surgeon, Dr Abhishek further honed his skills by doing a certified two year fellowship in GI and HPB Cancer Surgery from Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital, Mumbai, India. He furthered his skills as a Specialist Registrar in Colorectal Cancer Unit at Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital, Mumbai, India and gained experience in laparoscopic and robotic colorectal cancer surgery, pelvic exenterations and cytoreductive surgery and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) for peritoneal surface malignancies. 

Dr Mitra has been associated with some of the best hospitals in India that includes Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi, Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, New Delhi, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital, Mumbai and Apollo Hospital, New Delhi to name a few. He has special interest and expertise in performing major cancer surgeries of food pipe, Stomach, Liver, Gall Bladder, Pancreas, Bile duct, Intestine, Colon, Rectum etc. He believes that evidence based treatment and multidisciplinary approach for Gastrointestinal Cancers is important to ensure optimal outcomes. Apart from performing various laparoscopic and open surgeries for gastrointestinal cancers, he also performs general laparoscopic surgeries.
